2026 Municipal and School Board Election -  Township of Central Frontenac 

Election Day 

Municipal elections are held every four years on the fourth Monday of October. 

The next Municipal and School Board Election will take place on: 

Monday, October 26, 2026 

Council members are elected for a four-year term. The current term began in 2022 and ends in 2026. 

Unlike federal or provincial elections, municipal candidates do not run under political parties. All candidates run as individuals. 

Are You on the Voters’ List? 

It’s important to make sure your information is up to date before the election. 

As of January 1, 2024, Elections Ontario is responsible for maintaining the voters’ list for municipal and school board elections (this was previously done by MPAC). 

What this means for you: 

All voter registration, updates, and corrections must now be completed through Elections Ontario. 

You can: 

  • Confirm your voter information 

  • Update your name or address 

  • Add yourself if you’re missing 

  • Remove outdated information 

  • Register property-based eligibility (important in cottage country municipalities like Central Frontenac) 

 Visit www.registertovoteon.ca to check or update your information. 

Who Can Vote in a Municipal Election? 

You must be: 

  • A Canadian citizen 

  • At least 18 years old 

  • A resident of Central Frontenac OR 

  • A property owner or tenant in Central Frontenac OR 

  • The spouse of a property owner or tenant in Central Frontenac 

Thinking of Running for Office? 

To run for municipal office in Central Frontenac, you must be: 

  • A Canadian citizen 

  • At least 18 years old 

  • A resident of the municipality OR 

  • A non-resident owner or tenant of land in the municipality (or the spouse of such owner or tenant) 

  • Not legally prohibited from voting 

  • Not disqualified by any legislation from holding municipal office

Nominations for the 2026 Municipal Election open: 

Friday, May 1, 2026
