Waste and Recycling

Central Frontenac operates two (2) landfill sites and one (1) transfer station for residents, all three sites are home to our household recycling depots and site staff are available with safe and educated recycling procedures.  Landfill Sites are the final resting place for non- recyclable garbage, requiring regular cover of soil to prevent garbage from attracting wildlife or blowing around as litter and minimize odors.

Where do I take my Hazardous Waste?

 Hazardous Waste Program

Most households contain materials that can be hazardous and must be disposed of carefully as they can be dangerous to people and the environment. Our landfills, and storm drains are not designed to withstand hazardous waste.

Without special treatment, the chemicals may pose a threat to our own health and the environment.

Garbage Bags

Central Frontenac Garbage Bags

The Township of Central Frontenac implemented the clear garbage system in 2011. All loose household garbage must be placed in a Central Frontenac garbage bag. The clear bags allow our site attendants to see what is being placed in our landfills and to ensure we are following all waste and recycling policies and procedures.

Below is some important information regarding the Township's clear bag system
  • Small garbage bags used in waste cans in the kitchen, bedroom, etc. can be generic clear bags that are then placed in the clear bag bag sold by the Township. Residents are allowed one dark or opaque bag, measuring 16" x 20" or less, for personal items per each Township of Central Frontenac garbage bag.

  • Garbage bags with recyclable waste mixed in may be turned away by the attendant.

Bags can be purchased at the Township office, as well as all three (3) waste disposal sites.

  • Residential sized bags - 30" x 38" $1.50 per bag / sold in bundles of ten (10)
  • Commercial sized bags - 35" x 50" $2.50 per bag / sold in bundles of ten (10)
