Official Plan Adoption
The township updated its Official Plan in 2021, and the updated plan was approved by County of Frontenac on September 15, 2021. The Township of Central Frontenac has unique social and environmental conditions that require varied approaches to land development. The Township’s Official Plan creates the objectives and policies for guiding land use changes by protecting and managing the natural environment, directing and influencing growth patterns and facilitating the vision of Council to develop a strong and diverse economy in the Township, and to ensure all aspects necessary for a healthy community are protected, managed and made available to existing and future residents. This Official Plan is designed to guide development for the municipality for the next 25 years.

Official Plan Amendment #1 (January 2023)

The purpose of this proposed Official Plan Amendment is to make administrative changes to the Township’s Official Plan to implement recent changes to the Ontario Planning Act through Bill 13, Supporting Businesses and People Act, 2021 and Bill 109, More Homes for Everyone Act, 2022. Specifically, the amendment will include policies in the Township Official Plan regarding complete planning applications, pre-application consultation for planning applications, and delegated authority for planning approvals. The by-law to adopt the amendment was passed on January 24, 2023, and has been forwarded to the County of Frontenac for approval. For information regarding appeal rights, please review the Notice of Adoption.
The County of Frontenac has now approved our adopted Official Plan Amendment #1. The decision is subject to a 20 day appeal period expiring at 4:00 p.m. March 8, 2023. Please refer to Central Frontenac Official Plan Changes

July 2018 Open House |
An Open House was held on July 21, 2018, to hear preliminary comments from the public on the draft policies and mapping. We heard comments from the public regarding waterfront development, affordable housing, development policies for Sharbot Lake and Highway 7 and policies for White Lake. |
