Winter Burning
Annual rules on outdoor burning from November 1st to March 31st
Winter burning regulations are in effect from Nov. 1 to March 31. During this period burn permits are not required, and burn ban periods are not in effect.
However, there is still a responsibility for burning safely. People are still responsible for their burns and must be in attendance at their burns.
The following safety guidelines should be observed:
- Burning hours are from two hours before sunset until two hours after sunrise.
- Burning shall be done in a proper incinerator or in a pile, with flammables cleared at least three metres in all directions and 15 metres from any excess brush, buildings, or forest area. If burning in a pile, the pile is not to exceed two metres in diameter and two metres high
- Campfires are permitted from 1900 hours until 1000 hrs. the next morning, with a maximum size of 2 ft. by 2 ft. with a flame height not exceeding 2 ft.
