Permit fees
Permit fees are based on the Construction Value of the work as stated on the application, or determined from the building area at the rate of $80 per square foot for new, single storey residential or commercial construction, and $100 per square foot for two storey construction. A figure of $25 per square foot will be used to calculate the construction value of accessory buildings, including farm buildings.
Validity
Building permits will be valid for 2 years from the beginning of the month of issue, except for Class T permits, which will be valid for a period of 1 year.
Penalty
In all cases where construction is started before a permit application is received a surcharge of 50% of the permit fee will be applied.
Note: Preliminary excavation to determine soil depth and bearing condition or site suitability will not be considered to be construction.
