COUNCIL MINUTES

JUNE 25, 2002

Council met in regular session, Tuesday, June 25, 2002 at 9:00 a.m. at the Council Chambers, Sharbot Lake.

Also in attendance Heather Fox - Clerk Administrator, Bill Nicol - Public Works Manager, Jay DeBernardi - Director of Fire and Emergency Services, David Brison - Frontenac News Reporter and Craig Bakay - Gazatte Reporter.

No members of the public attended.

There was no disclosures of Pecuniary Interest.

Elizabeth Fulton and Frontenac Management Board Chairman, Phil Leonard attended to provide Council with an update on the Fairmount Home Rebuild.

Councillor Frances Smith requested a letter of authorization from the Township to allow a group of volunteers to provide repairs to the ball fence at the Oliver Scott Memorial Ballfield and a letter from the Building Department stating a building permit is not required. Council agreed.

That the resolution to endorse from the Town of Petawawa to support the efforts being made to retain the status quo of the Cardiac Care Unit presently situated at the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario be endorsed and the appropriate letters sent.

That the resolution to endorse from the Township of Smith-Ennismore-Lakefield regarding the Public Fire Safety Guideline 04-08-12, December 2001 and March 2000 be endorsed and the appropriate letters sent.

That the resolution to endorse from the City of Woodstock regarding an increase in minimum wage in Ontario be received and filed.

That the resolution to endorse from the Town of Minto to request the Minister of Natural Resources to review and address the existing licensing and monitoring legislation and procedure to result in an increase in fish population in rural streams and rivers be received and filed.

That the resolution to endorse from the Township of Montaque to request the Minister of Consumer and Business Services to re-evaluate the legislation in regards to the treatment of seniors in regards to obtaining necessary documentation for birth certificates and other vital documents be endorsed and the appropriate letters sent.

That the Township of Central Frontenac call a tender for 7000 cubic yards of winter sand to be screened at the Township pit in Ardoch and loaded, hauled, and stockpiled at the Wagner Road and Godfrey Garage facilities.

#276 Frances Smith, Bill Snyder That the Township of Central Frontenac enter into a Fire Protection Services Agreement with the Township of South Frontenac to provide Mutual Aid and Automatic Aid.

#277 Boyce Peters, Faye R. Putman That the announcement from Sheila Copps, Federal Minister of Canadian Heritage regarding the launching of Cultural Capitals of Canada be received and a copy of the program guidelines and application form ordered.

#278 Bob Harvey, Boyce Peters That the request from the Parham Agricultural Society to change the status of Hinchinbrooke District, which is currently "Dry" pursuant to the Liquor License Act be approved and the appropriate question(s) placed on the ballot for the municipal election in 2003.

That the resolution from the City of Brockville to petition the federal and provincial governments to amend legislation to permit municipal governments and municipal boards/committees to accept donations derived from various legal lottery events to be used solely for charitable purposes as defined in Section 4.2.1(D) of the Lottery Licensing Policy Manual be received and filed.
