COUNCIL MINUTES
JULY 23, 2002
Council met in regular session, Tuesday, July 23, 2002 at 9:00 a.m. at the Council Chambers, Sharbot Lake.

That the letter from Daryl Kennedy requesting Council to deny the
request by Bell Canada to purchase the K & P railroad bed be received
and acknowledged.

That the letter from July 9, 2002 from Bell Canada regarding the disposition of the former K & P Rail lands owned by Bell Canada be received and a request forwarded to Bell Canada asking for a 60 day extension to the time frame for a response.

That the Winter Sand tender #02-08 be awarded as follows:
Godfrey - Les Leeman Excavating in the amount of $20,784.75 including taxes; Sharbot Lake - Les Leeman Excavating in the amount of $18,725.00 including taxes.

That approval be given to write off outstanding taxes, interest and penalty on the properties vested to the municipality as a result of the tax sale process as per the Treasurer's report dated July 23, 2002 and that the School Board and Upper Tier portions of the write offs be charged back.

That the letter from Woodwark and Stevens, solicitors for
Robert Hollywood requesting that the $1,000.00 price for the two pieces of road allowance stopped up, closed and deeded to Mr. Hollywood be waived as the extension of Elizabeth Street was sold by the municipality in 1945 for $125.00 and the road allowance closure constituted a very small portion of land be received and a fee of $500.00 established for the road allowance closure and the fee waived on the extension of Elizabeth Street, and by-law #2002-119 amended accordingly.

That the request from the Firefighter's Association to conduct the annual M.D. volunteer toll, boot drive be approved.
