COUNCIL MINUTES - MAY 8TH, 2000
Council met in regular session Monday, May 8th, 2000 at Mountain Grove at 7:30 p.m. with all members present except Mike Beattie and Doug Bearance.
Staff members in attendance were: Jim Hegadorn, Heather Fox and Bev Howes Irwin.
Press reporter David Brison also attended.
Shawn Quigley attended to inform Council of the Youth Diversion Program at Sharbot Lake High School this year and Land O' Lakes Public School hopefully in January. His presentation was well received by Council and verbal approval given.
Bill Ireland, Director of Fire and Emergency Services attended and presented a list of 13 items the District Departments wished changed in the Fire By-law, # 2000-65. All changes were approved by Council accept number 5, 10 and 12. Junior firefighters are to be allowed with conditions, the wording of which is to be developed by Bill Ireland.
Sylvia Gray attended to discuss the amount of money Eastern Ontario Trails Alliance has requested and that the Mountain Grove Snowmobile Club couldn't afford same. Bob Harvey invites Mrs. Gray to attend an Eastern Ontario Trails Alliance Meeting with him. The Clerk was instructed to invite Cindy Cassidy to attend a Council Meeting and any representatives of the local snowmobile clubs.
Rod Easton attended to discuss the Township's policy established for paying accounts and the staff decision not to purchase products from him. It was suggested he bring in his statement more frequently and that the decision not to purchase was temporary until the issue had been dealt with by Council and now would be reversed.

Pursuant to Section 442 of the Municipal Act R.S.O. 1990 c M.45 that the assessment on roll number 1039 060 010 06700 000, William Ireland and Anne Chow, be reduced by $500. and the taxes adjusted accordingly due to buildings being demolished.

Pursuant to Section 442 of the Municipal Act R.S.O. 1990 c M.45 that the assessment on roll number 1039 060 020 05100 0000, Lance Cowdy, be reduced by $26,500 as the house was destroyed by fire.

Pursuant to Section 442 of the Municipal Act R.S.O. 1990 c M.45 that the assessment on roll number 1039 080 040 19000 0000, John Campbell and Bonnie Cook, be changed from commercial to residential and the taxes adjusted accordingly as the property is occupied only as residential.

Pursuant to Section 442 of the Municipal Act R.S.O. 1990 c M.45 that the assessment on roll number 1039 010 010 10225 0000, Rochelle Bodick, be reduced by $38,000 and the taxes adjusted accordingly due to the state of the buildings.

That Resolution #87-2000 be rescinded and that the successful Consultant for Road 38, Archibald Peterson, be instructed to include the portion of Item # 4 of the Study Area of proposal #00-01 in his report which was omitted in the aforementioned resolution. The cost quoted at $1,000. to be divided equally at $500. each for the Township of South Frontenac and the Township of Central Frontenac. The portion being 285 m south of Bob's Lake Road to the Ducharme Road.

That the Public Works Manager be authorized to give approval to the Village Beautiful Committee as to the location of the flower beds on Township property. That the proposed trash bins be denied due to failed previous attempts; that the request for personnel assistance be denied, due to personnel and budget constraints. That burning not be allowed on the track bed behind Harvey's Valu Mart; that shepherd's hooks be allowed at cemetery gates and that other avenues be taken for donation of the benches.

That this meeting adjourn until Monday, May 15th, 2000 at 1:30 p.m. at the Municipal Office, Sharbot Lake, Ontario, and that the next regular meeting will be held on Tuesday, May 23rd, at 8:30 a.m. at the Municipal Office, Sharbot Lake, or the call of the Mayor.
