Township Council Minutes - August 26, 1999
SPECIAL MEETING OF COUNCIL - AUGUST 26, 1999
Council met in special session Thursday, August 26, 1999 at 4:30 p.m. with all
members in attendance except Doug Bearance and Dick Harwood.
The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the backhoe tender, the line painting
tender, the Sharbot Lake Government Dock, the Eagle Lake Dock and clarification
of the free use of community halls.
The Public Works Manager was instructed to contact users of JCB backhoes for
references and if satisfied, to honour the original decision of Council and
accept the lowest tender bid. All members of Council are to be advised of the
outcome.
The Mayor and the Public Works Manager reported that the quality of the line
painting on 509 was not acceptable.
Council agreed to a sign being erected at the Government Dock stating "Swimmers
Please Use Public Beach".
It was reported that Tamworth Hardware Store delivered bags of cement to Eagle
Lake for Charles Steele and in the process caused damage to the new boat launch
dock. The Clerk was instructed to verify the facts and if found to be true, to
write a letter to both parties requesting repairs to the dock.
It was clarified by Council that the Community Halls are not free of charge for
church services but are free for church suppers, U.C.W. functions, etc. as the
By-law states.
The following resolutions were passed:
#381 Faye R. Putnam, Jack Nicolson
That motion #313-99 be rescinded and that the line painting tender be awarded to
Metro Paving in the amount of $32,240.05 including G.S.T.

That this meeting adjourn until September 13, 1999 or the call of the
Mayor.
