Township Council Minutes - May 11, 1998

COUNCIL MINUTES - MAY 11, 1998

Council met in regular session, Monday, May 11, 1998 at 7:30 p.m. with all
members present.
Michael Dawber attended as North Frontenac News Recorder.
Staff Members, Heather Fox and Judy Gray were also in attendance.
John Pringle and Ken Clarke attended as observers.

Fire Chiefs Bob Downes and Mel Conboy attended to present the Fire Department
Budgets, and to express their displeasure , on behalf of their departments, with
the decisions that had been reached by Council at a previous meeting regarding
wild fire fighting wages and equipment rentals fees.

Clarke Gaylord attended on behalf of the Kennebec Recreation Committee to
request Council to reconsider their decision regarding the canteen at the
Kennebec Recreation Centre.
Mr. Gaylord was authorized by Council to contact Don Ferguson directly if the
grass was not satisfactorily cut at the Recreation Centre.
Mr. Gaylord requested that the space formerly used for Council meetings at the
Kennebec Community Centre/Office now be rented out as part of the Hall. It was
verbally agreed that this be done as soon as the Kennebec Township records had
been removed.

Tom Varga, O.P.P. attended to answer any questions regarding the costing
proposal submitted by the O.P.P. It was decided that a meeting be held on May
20th at 7:00 p.m. to deal with the proposals for the Official Plan and Zoning
By-law as well as the O.P.P. costing.

That the matter of 50% of the cost of the toilet at the Salmon River
park be included in
the budget.

That Don Webster be hired as Area Foreman for District #3, effective
May 18th, 1998
with a probationary period of 3 months.

That Severance application B-1-98-CF and B-2-98-CF, Joyce Ivall be
recommended
for approval.

That resolution #211, passed April 28, 1998 be expanded to indicate
the following persons
as fire permit issuers: Olden District - The Grove Store, Sylvia
Gray, The Bait Bucket
(Carmel Cowdy); Hinchinbrooke District - McGowan's Store, Good's
Store, Lakeland
Country Store, Wayne Fulton; Kennebec District - Rhonda MacFarland,
Susan Baker,
Bev Hayes, Wilf Deline, Northland Sports, Ella Arney; Oso District -
Township Office,
Gray's Grocery.

for refinishing the main
floor at the Arden Hall, $150.00 plus $100.00 for snow and ice
removal this last winter,

to $390.00 per month to include the library and the space occupied
by the municipal
office which were inadvertently omitted from the original tender.
