COUNCIL MINUTES - MARCH 9, 1998
Council met in regular session Monday, March 9, 1998 at 7:30 p.m. All members
were present except Dick
Harwood who was absent with cause. Staff members Heather Fox and Jim Hegadorn
were present.
Peter O'Hare of the Fire Marshal's Office attended to discuss Bill 84 (an Act to
promote Fire Prevention and Public
Safety in Ontario and to amend and repeal certain other Acts relating to Fire
Services. Fire department members
Bob Downes, Brian Kirkham, Lloyd Whan, Gordon Whan, Bob Veley, Bob Young, Mel
Conboy, Paul Lowery, Art
Teal and Ron Clarke were also in attendance.
Joanne and Cathy Goodfellow attended to discuss a road closing at part lot 24,
concession 1 & 2.
Council agreed in principle to close the old Highway road allowance and the
concession road allowance. The Clerk
was instructed to discuss the reduced price with the Goodfellow's before any
further action was taken.
Cathy Sauve attended to discuss the use of bag tags on garbage at the Sharbot
Lake Provincial Park. She advised
that during July and August 3 tons of garbage per week was being deposited at
Olden District Waste Disposal site
from the Park. Council did not reverse the decision made by motion #79,
February 16, 1998 and that the tags must
be attached to the bags to conform to the by-law.
Tom Varga of the O.P.P. attended to request a resolution to request a costing
for O.P.P. Services for Central
Frontenac only and for Central Frontenac, North Frontenac and Frontenac Islands
as one unit. He also requested a
name for the O.P.P. detachment and all agreed to "Frontenac O.P.P. Detachment".
Annette Gray-Jackson attended as an observer for the discussion of the pick-up
truck tenders.
It was agreed that all Community Hall bookings would be done through the
Municipal Office.
It was agreed that the mortgage on the municipal office now being used would be
area-rated to Oso District
residents only.

accounts payable
by the former Kennebec Township.

recognizes existing Provincial Parks and Conservation

and reserves would not
increase without input and permission from local municipality
and that new
protected areas would be only as large as the necessary to
protect the special
features/values.
