Burn Ban Indicators

It is illegal to burn anything out doors when we are under a burn ban. The Ministry of Natural Resources monitors things like current weather trends and amount of rain fall, they use this information to determine whether or not it is safe to start a fire outdoors. We will keep this information available to you for your safety and for the safety of your neighbours.

Below are the indicators that may appear on our home page.

This symbol means that the burn ban has been lifted or is OFF.

It is legal to burn outdoors. As always, be careful and take precautions to ensure both your safety and the safety of those around you when managing a fire.

This symbol means that all outdoor burning is banned.

Under these conditions it is illegal to burn anything outdoors. If caught burning outdoors, while under a burn ban, your fire will be extinguished and your actions may result in a fine.

Purchase a Burn Permit

Fire Permits are required to be purchased before any controlled burning, with the exceptions of barbeques.  Fire permits are available from the Township office or from an authorized Fire Permit Issuer listed here. 

Campfire permits are $2.00, incinerator permit $5.00 (these two are seasonal) and a 3 day permit for land clearing is $2.00.

Fire Permits are not required during the winter season.
